The former owners of the Azienda Avignonesi, the Falvo brothers, have earned their fame as renovators of the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. It was they who led this appellation into the modern era and made the less noble Vino from Montepulciano nobile again. In 1988 you filled a 100% Merlot for the first time, which caused a sensation far beyond Tuscany. At that time the Gambero Rosso even tried the wine of Cháteau Petrus as a standard. A few years later, the Falvo brothers decided to add a little Cabernet Sauvignon to the Merlot. This formula has proven itself to this day and the Desiderio, as this assembly is called today, has become one of the great classics of the Italian wine landscape. It matures in barriques for two years and in the bottle for at least half a year.
